Scientists from the University of Concepción coordinated by the Laboratory of Biological Invasions (LIB) of the Faculty of Forestry Sciences, with the support of the GEF/MMA/UNDP Project on Invasive Exotic Species, created the first comprehensive catalogue of invasive species that have become wild in the national territory. The survey identified more than a THOUSAND exotic species of flora and fauna that are causing serious damage to local ecosystems.

Biological invasions occur due to the arrival, either accidentally or through human activity, of exotic species, that is, species that are not native to the ecosystem and are a major threat to the environment.
