PhD in Biology from the University of Chile. He is currently a Full Professor at the Faculty of Natural and Oceanographic Sciences of the University of Concepción. His research interests focus on the distribution patterns and ecophysiology of native and introduced species along natural gradients, in order to determine the main factors involved in the distribution and abundance of these species and thus better understand the possible consequences of climate change. To do so, he uses a series of observational and experimental approaches in different ecosystems, although the main focus is on high-mountain ecosystems.
